AAR reports mixed volumes for week ending January 16
Intermodal volumes for the fourth quarter of 2015 were mostly in line with both volumes and trends that were intact through the first three quarters of the year, according to the Intermodal Market Trends & Statistics Report issued this week by the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA).
The average price per gallon for diesel gasoline fell for the 12th straight week, with a 4 cent decline to $2.031.
Over this 12-week stretch of declines, diesel prices have dropped a cumulative 46.1 cents.
The Association of American Railroads (AAR) said that rail carload and intermodal volumes for the week ending January 16 were mixed.

The number of trucks crossing the U.S.-Mexican border at Laredo, Otay Mesa and other points is on the rise, but the value of the goods those trucks carry is rising faster.
Arlington, Va. — American Trucking Associations’ advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index increased 1% in December, following a decrease of 0.9% during November.
An analysis of data from the Department of Transportation done by the American Trucking Associations shows over both the long- and short-term that the rate of truck-involved fatalities is declining.
